Last chance: Targeted World of Hyatt elite members can register for instant American Airlines status
Editor's Note
American Airlines AAdvantage and World of Hyatt launched a partnership in 2019. Thanks to this partnership, elite members in both programs can link their AAdvantage and Hyatt accounts and enjoy reciprocal earnings.
American and Hyatt have occasionally offered fast-track elite status offers to members with linked accounts. Now, we have two: AAdvantage is offering an "Instant Status Pass" to targeted World of Hyatt elite members, and World of Hyatt is offering a "trial tier status offer" to AAdvantage elite members.
Read on if you have status in one of these programs and are interested in snagging American AAdvantage elite status or World of Hyatt elite status for a few months — and potentially extending it for over a year.
Fast-track to AAdvantage elite status
American Airlines is targeting select AAdvantage members who have linked their World of Hyatt and AAdvantage accounts. If you're a Hyatt elite member and you've already connected your accounts, check your email to see if you're targeted for an Instant Status Pass. We've seen offers for World of Hyatt Globalists to earn complimentary AAdvantage Platinum Pro status, but other Hyatt elite members may be eligible for other AAdvantage status tiers.
If you're eligible, the email will contain instructions on how to register. But you'll have to act fast — this offer ends Sept. 5.
Important details
As the name suggests, Instant Status Pass provides instant status. According to the terms and conditions: "Your complimentary AAdvantage? status will be valid within 24 hours of registering.??It may take up to an additional 24 hours for your new benefits to apply to existing bookings."
If you'd like to extend your status beyond the four-month promotional period, Instant Status Pass also provides a status challenge. You can earn another four months of status by meeting the following Loyalty Point goals in the first four months:
- Earn 13,000 Loyalty Points to get Gold status
- Earn 25,000 Loyalty Points to get Platinum status
- Earn 42,000 Loyalty Points to get Platinum Pro status
- Earn 67,000 Loyalty Points to get Executive Platinum status
If you meet one of these requirements in the first four months (Phase 1), you'll get another four-month period (Phase 2) to extend your status again, followed by a similar Phase 3. If you achieve the Loyalty Point goals for a given status level in all three phases, you'll earn that status level for the remainder of the current membership year. If, on the other hand, you fail to complete at least Gold requirements in any phase, your complimentary AAdvantage status will be withdrawn.
Loyalty Points are a separate currency from AAdvantage miles, and they're used to earn elite status with American. There are many ways to earn them, such as flying American, spending on cobranded credit cards, linking your card to AAdvantage Dining and using the AAdvantage eShopping portal.
Keep in mind that AAdvantage limits the number of these promotions that you can participate in: "If you participate in this Instant Status Pass? promotion, you may not participate in any other Instant Status Pass promotion for a 24-month period following your registration for this promotion." So only register this time around if you'll get significant use out of your complimentary status and/or you plan to extend your status. If you're not sure you'll be able to take full advantage of this promotion, you may be better off waiting for the next one.
Fast-track to World of Hyatt elite status
American AAdvantage elite members now have a faster way to earn World of Hyatt status through February 2026. Plus, you can enjoy Explorist status for 90 days just for registering.
If you haven't already used such an offer this calendar year, you can register for this one on Hyatt's website through Oct. 31. Once you register, you'll begin a 90-day trial period during which you'll enjoy World of Hyatt Explorist status.
If you complete 10 tier-qualifying nights at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide and at participating Mr & Mrs Smith hotels and resorts during your trial period, you'll maintain Explorist status through February 2026.
It gets even better for higher-tier American AAdvantage elite members. AAdvantage members with Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status also have the opportunity to earn World of Hyatt Globalist status through February 2026 by completing at least 20 tier-qualifying nights during their Explorist trial period.
American AAdvantage elite members can log in and register at this page of Hyatt's website. However, the offer's terms note that you must have "already successfully linked your AAdvantage? account to your World of Hyatt? account." So you may not be eligible if you haven't previously linked your American and Hyatt accounts.

Important details
Before you register for this offer, there are some important details to understand.
For example, although you'll get the benefits of Explorist status during your Explorist trial period, you won't get any club lounge access awards. After all, club lounge access awards are earned via Milestone Rewards, not status. Likewise, even if you satisfy the requirements to keep Explorist or snag Globalist status through February 2026, you'll still only earn Milestone Rewards as you complete the qualifying nights or earn the base points for each tier during a calendar year.
For a stay to count toward this tier trial offer, you must check out during your Explorist trial period. If you check out after your Explorist trial period ends, no nights in that stay will count. Although you can earn tier-qualifying nights by having and using the World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, these nights won't count toward this promotion.
If you successfully meet the 10-night requirement for Explorist status or the 20-night requirement for Globalist status, your new status will appear in your account; you'll see it within seven business days of checking out of the stay that pushed you over the applicable threshold. Your status will then be valid through February 2026.
Finally, be sure to time your registration carefully. The 90-day trial status (and the period to reach 10 or 20 nights) starts when you register.
Bottom line
If you're a World of Hyatt elite member and you've linked your Hyatt and AAdvantage accounts, check your email to see if you're targeted for American's Instant Status Pass. Remember that you won't be eligible for any other Instant Status Pass promotion for two years after registering for this one. If you decide to register, you must do so by Sept. 5.
If you're an AAdvantage elite, you may want to register for Hyatt's status match if you can benefit from World of Hyatt Explorist status on an upcoming stay. Likewise, this offer may be useful if you are striving to qualify for Explorist status — or Globalist status for AAdvantage elite members with Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status — but are still many nights too short. Remember, Hyatt Milestone Rewards still require you to obtain the typical base points or tier-qualifying nights, even if you use this trial tier status offer to reach your desired status tier. You must register on Hyatt's website by Oct. 31.
